Expertise of engine faults

Long-term studies show that the quality of engine repair in many services and technical centers often does not meet even the most elementary requirements for the quality of such work.
The main problem lies in the numerous non-compliances of the used technology of engine repair and part machining. These non-compliances are the result of the use of inappropriate tools and equipment, low quality of personnel training, lack of understanding in repair technologies, irresponsibility or even elementary inattention.

As a result of such a “repair”, the engine comes out with numerous defects, sometimes even in a worse condition than it was before the repair. This threatens with failures and breakdowns with repeated repairs, and in the most severe cases generally leads to further unrepairability of the engine.
There are also cases of manufacturing defects in new engines, as well as various damage and even breakdowns as a result of poor-quality maintenance of warranty cars. It is even worse when there are facts of dishonest work and deceit, which you also sometimes have to deal with.
Maybe all this would not be so bad, but as a result of such process, there is always dissatisfied one. And, as a rule, this is the owner who bought the wrong thing or gave his car to the wrong hands. And even paid all the money that was asked of him. And here’s what he got for it…

Of course, they do not always deceive and do not always want to answer for anything. Often, the performer admits his mistake, including after consulting with expert experts. What is good — it means that he will redo everything, and the problem will close by itself. It’s worse when the error is obvious, but the service stands its ground – they haven’t seen it, we don’t know it, we don’t want it …
In fairness, it should be noted that the opposite also happens — a malfunction after buying a car or repairing an engine arose due to non-compliance by the owner with the requirements of the operating instructions. That is, it has nothing to do with production, maintenance or repairs at all. But the owner is confident and blames the technical center for the malfunction.
Based on this, the main task of the experts of our International Motor Bureau is to understand all these problems and find the truth. To do this, we have the main thing – qualified specialists who have passed all stages of engine repair from engine mechanics to production managers, their many years of experience and deep knowledge of all the subtleties of the engine business.
Obviously, the issues of malfunction of the chassis, brake system, steering and some other systems and units of the car also do not go beyond the work of our experts. However, the main field of activity of the Bureau is related to the professional experience of experts — this is a technical examination of the condition, the study of the causes of engine malfunctions and the preparation of an expert report on the results of these studies.

WHY OUR EXPERTISE?

Because we have our own 10 commandments,
developed over a good 25 years of work with cars and their engines:

1.
We are not at all interested in the "political" causes of malfunctions and breakdowns. Unlike the so-called "experts", we know too much and value our reputation too much. Therefore, we cannot afford to determine any other cause of the malfunction than the one that actually exists. It is useless to put pressure on us with authority or other force in order to obtain the necessary conclusions. It is useless to offer money for this — the reputation is still more expensive.
2.
In our research, we rely on our own practical experience. For example, our experience in engines, including their design, repair, operation and faults, is detailed in our books "Repair of engines of foreign cars", "Expertise of technical condition and failure causes of automotive technology" and in more than 150 motor topic articles, which are written in results of our own work. Most of the so-called "experts" are very far from practice. In expert studies of engines, they base their conclusions on some standards and textbooks that are outdated and practically divorced from modern engines. In none of these sources there is a hint of engine malfunctions in operation, their signs and causes.
3.
In our research, we do not rely on organoleptics (sense organs), a camera and a ruler from a nearby school supply store, as many real "experts" usually do. The basis of our work is always direct and indirect measuring methods, because we are able to accurately measure the details. We can even accurately perform their thermal and strength calculations to determine the true cause of the failure.
4.
Our experts never work "with their bare hands", because in the units, especially in engines, "by eye" and "at random", with a camera and a ruler, nothing is done. Our main weapon is measuring tools. And this despite the fact that in the "skillful" hands of real "experts" there will be nothing at all soon, except for a phone.
5.
We have a "magic" suitcase, which we always take for engine inspection. It contains many interesting things that are well known to professional engine mechanics and allow you to determine exactly what actually happened to the engine:

This is the following set:

• micrometers for precise (0.01 mm) measurement of shafts from 0 to 125 mm,
• internal measuring gauges for precise (0.01 mm) measurement of holes from 6 to 125 mm,
• dial indicators,
• magnetic stand for precise (0.01 mm) measurement of shaft runout,
• special ruler for checking planes,
• vernier caliper, a set of probes, a magnifying glass, a flashlight, a magnet and…
• of course, good camera with good optics,
• and even an endoscope for in-place examination of internal cavities.

6.
We will never write in the conclusion all sorts of nonsense about what actually does not happen in engines — such as "tarred fuel that caused uncontrolled combustion" or "destruction of bearing from knock due low-quality fuel".
7.
In our conclusion there will always be a strict logic of evidence, based on our own practical experience in repairing, fine-tuning, operating and malfunctioning large number of engines, including sports ones. The vast majority of other experts will not be able to provide this.
8.
Our expert conclusion is always a quality work that requires great care and a lot of time for preparation. So it's not cheap work. Have you ever seen a good cheap job?
9.
We do not try to get money at any way. We do not walk around with a meaningful smart look and do not show our exclusivity. We don't tell fairy tales about how you can wipe carbon deposits from valves and piston rings, or some other magical marks from liners or piston skirts by fingers - because it is impossible. And much more things we do not do from what real "experts" like so much.
10.
We always do only quality work. Some overly proud experts claim that they only do trial expertise and "do not stoop" to pre-trial expert research, so as not to undermine their authority. Indeed, according to the law, expert in a pre-trial expert study does not give a signature and does not bear criminal liability for giving a knowingly false conclusion. In this case, he is not responsible for its result, which is used by some unscrupulous experts. However, we are not proud - for us, a pre-trial expert study does not differ in any way from trial expertise and will be performed with the same high quality. Perhaps, as a result of the inspection during the pre-trial examination, we will be able to find the fault cause, and the parties will agree with it. Then our work on this can be completed even without preparing a conclusion and paying us for unnecessary work, if the customer considers this is not necessary.
